Appearance of Pocahontas
Pocahontas is a young woman with tan skin, long dark hair and dark brown eyes that sparkle. In the first film she had a tall, slender statuesque figure with broad shoulders and narrow hips and walked around barefoot, whereas in the sequel she wears flat buckskin shoes. Pocahontas' eyes and face are less rounded, more angular and refined, and the proportions of her head to her body more closely resemble those of an adult. She usually wears the iconic turquoise necklace that belonged to her mother.
Personality of Pocahontas
Pocahontas presents herself as a noble, free-spirited and highly spiritual young woman. She expresses wisdom beyond her years and offers kindness and guidance to those around her. She loves her homeland, adventure and nature. In the film, she seems to have the power of a shaman as she is able to communicate with nature, talk to spirits, empathise with animals and understand unknown languages.
Pocahontas believes that her mother's spirit surrounds her and she likes to escape in the breeze as if she feels the presence of her late mother. Pocahontas also shows a very mischievous side as she gets her best friend Nakoma Tip off her boat and proceeds to splash her.
In the sequel, Pocahontas seems to have grown up after hearing about John Smith's death. She maintains her independent spirit and mischievous side, but is more mature and confident than she was in the first film. When she meets John Rolfe, at first she does not appreciate him and sometimes argues with him, but over time she develops romantic feelings for him that far outweigh her feelings for Smithee. During her stay in England, she almost lost herself in the noise of this new world. But in the end, she bravely intends to sacrifice herself for the safety of her people and return to her homeland to find herself, and romantic love, once again.
